How does the Mileage Plus Reward MilesSM program work?
The Reward Miles program was developed to allow your company or organization the ability to give customers and employees something they'll appreciate more than anything else: miles toward free travel. Mileage Plus miles are the perfect way to reward your customers, thank your employees, strengthen business relationships, and boost sales.

We offer two options for ordering Mileage Plus Reward Miles: our electronic version of Reward Miles (valid worldwide for three years) and our paper version of Reward Miles (valid in the U.S. only for one year). Both are pay-as-you-go with a minimum prepayment. Below you will find a table summarizing both options:

Reward Miles are deposited into Mileage Plus Member accounts like all other Mileage Plus partners. Mileage Plus Miles can be used to redeem travel awards on United and Star Alliance partners to hundreds of destinations worldwide. It's no wonder Mileage Plus was voted Best Frequent Flyer Program by the readers of Business Traveler International magazine five years in a row.



Please allow 10 business days to establish and approve your Reward Miles account, and 1-2 weeks to print and mail your paper Reward Miles certificates. All standard Mileage Plus program rules and conditions apply. Mileage Plus award travel seats are subject to capacity controls and blackout dates. Mileage Plus bonus miles are non-refundable, non-extendable, non-exchangeable. Other terms apply.
May international (non US) companies buy Reward Miles?
Yes. Reward Miles may be purchased worldwide over the Internet by any qualifying company. However, Reward Miles paper certificates are sold only to companies having any US mailing address to receive certificate shipment—no P.O. Boxes accepted.
Are international (non US) companies required to pay the 7.5% Federal Excise Tax?
Yes. The 7.5% Federal Excise Tax applies to all purchasers.

Is there a minimum number of Reward Miles that must be awarded per transaction?
Yes. Via the web, you must award a minimum of 100 Mileage Plus Reward Miles per posting transaction. Paper certificates are issued in denominations of 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, 20000, and 25000.
Is there a maximum number of Reward Miles that may be awarded to one individual?
Paper Reward Mile certificates are limited to a maximum of 25,000 Mileage Plus miles per Mileage Plus account per calendar year. Electronic Reward Miles accounts may award up to 30,000 Mileage Plus miles per Mileage Plus account per calendar year.
Is my company subject to any rules and conditions when awarding Mileage Plus Reward Miles? What other important legal information do I need to know?
YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE MILEAGE PLUS REWARD MILES PROGRAM AND YOUR PURCHASE OF MILEAGE PLUS MILES ARE SUBJECT TO THE TERMS OF THE MILEAGE PLUS REWARD MILES AGREEMENT AND THE MILEAGE PLUS REWARD MILES ORDER FORM.

ALL ORDERS ARE SUBJECT TO UNITED MILEAGE PLUS APPROVAL. PLEASE READ THE MILEAGE PLUS REWARD MILES AGREEMENT BEFORE COMPLETING AND SUBMITTING THE ORDER FORM.

Can any company purchase Mileage Plus Reward Miles?
Unfortunately, no. Contractual constraints prohibit Mileage Plus from selling miles to companies for incentives within selected industries: travel agents, travel websites, hotels and vacation packages (overnight accommodations), cruise lines, credit cards, banks, financial institutions, telecommunications, ISP providers, car rentals, political organizations, religious organizations, pharmaceutical or alcohol sellers, and such other customer categories as Mileage Plus, in its sole discretion, may determine from time to time. Should applications from these industries be received, Mileage Plus may decline the agreement. In the event that electronic miles or certificates are issued due to misrepresentation, electronic miles or mileage certificates shipped will be confiscated without refund.
What's the difference between Reward Miles (electronic version) and Reward Miles (certificate version)?
The Reward Miles (electronic) program allows your company or organization to submit mileage information via the Internet. By awarding miles online, mileage data submission is sent seamlessly for your customers and employees to redeem. The price per mile is US $.025, plus a 7.5% Federal Excise Tax and a US $.001 per mile processing fee. There is a 200,000 mile minimum purchase equaling $5,575 inclusive of tax and processing fees.

Upon approval of your order, click to united.com/purchasemiles and visit the "Reward Miles Administration" area--you will be issued a sponsor account number and password to enter this restricted area. To award miles, you simply enter the recipient's Mileage Plus number and the amount of Reward Miles to issue. Within 3-5 business days, your business or organization's name will appear along with your bonus miles on the member's Mileage Plus statement.

Electronic Mileage Plus miles must be deposited into a valid Mileage Plus account prior to the expiration date of your electronic miles account (three years from date of purchase). Miles that expire prior to being deposited are automatically rendered invalid and will not be refunded or extended. A minimum of 100 miles must be posted per award transaction. A maximum of 30,000 miles may be deposited into a Mileage Plus account through the electronic Reward Miles program in a calendar year.

The Reward Miles (paper certificates) program allows your company to issue Mileage Plus miles in the form of 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, 20000, or 25000 mile denominations. The price per mile is US $.0275, plus a 7.5% Federal Excise Tax and a $75 per order processing fee. There is a 60,000 mile minimum purchase totaling $1,650.00 plus tax and processing fee.

Your company name will be printed on the face of the Reward Miles certificates, and your company name will appear on the member's Mileage Plus statement. (You must purchase Reward Miles Paper Certificates online to have your company name appear on the Mileage Plus member statements). Please allow 1-2 weeks for the Reward Mile certificates to be printed and mailed to your company after your account has been approved and paid for.

Once received, Reward Mile certificates must be deposited into a valid Mileage Plus account prior to the expiration date printed on the face of the certificates (one year from the date of issue). Certificates that expire prior to being deposited are automatically rendered invalid and will not be refunded or extended. A maximum of 25,000 miles may be deposited into an individual Mileage Plus account through the Reward Miles program in a calendar year.
Can my company advertise with the Mileage Plus Reward Miles logo when offering a Mileage Plus miles promotion or incentive?
Yes. All advertising and promotional materials using "United," "United Airlines," "Mileage Plus," "Reward Miles," or any other of United's marks or logos (collectively, "Marks") are subject to Mileage Plus' prior written approval. Approval is granted via Mileage Plus' review process of an initialed sign-off of all concepts, pre-mechanicals and final merchanicals by emailing copies to creativereview@ualmiles.com, Attention: Partnership Marketing Reward Miles. Allow 10 working days for the approval process. Any unauthorized use of such Marks shall constitute a material breach of the Reward Miles Agreement, an infringement of United's rights in and to such Marks, and subject to legal action. Nothing herein shall be construed as transferring to your Company any ownership or interest to the Marks.
My customer or employee doesn't have a Mileage Plus number! What can I do?
Have them call 1-800-421-4655 or visit www.united.com and Mileage Plus will issue them one immediately!
How do Reward Miles add up to free travel for my employees and customers?
Your bonus miles can add up to awards-quickly! For example, 25,000 miles is enough for a saver award for travel within the continental United States and Canada.

What form of payment may I use when buying Reward Miles online?
We accept any valid payment by credit card. Your card will be charged immediately for the purchase. If you use Mileage Plus Visa or Mastercard you will receive additional miles per the Mileage Plus credit card program terms and conditions. We also accept certified checks, cashier's checks, or money orders payable to: Crew Marketing International.

How does my company give Reward Miles to a recipient?
In order to receive miles, your recipient must be a Mileage Plus member. (If they are not currently a member, they may join by calling 800-421-4655) You may award miles in two easy ways: 1) Enter a Mileage Plus number and the number of bonus miles you wish to award into our web site post record screen 2) For multiple records, you may choose to use an Excel spreadsheet and upload a csv file to our web site.
Will my Reward Miles account expire?
Yes. Reward Miles (electronic version) must be deposited into a valid Mileage Plus account prior to the expiration date on your electronic miles account (three years from activation). Reward Miles (paper version) must be deposited into a valid Mileage Plus account prior to the expiration date printed on the face of the certificates (one year from the date of issue). Miles that expire prior to being awarded are automatically rendered invalid and are not renewable, not exchangeable, not refundable, not extendable and not endorsable.
Will the miles I have awarded expire once they are in a Mileage Plus member's account?
Mileage Plus Reward Miles, like all other Mileage Plus program miles, are subject to the terms and conditions of Mileage Plus miles.
If my company awards exceed the annual calendar limit, will you apply the surplus miles towards next year?
Unfortunately, no. If you exceed awarding the 25,000 maximum bonus miles in one calendar year (for paper certificates) or 30,000 maximum bonus miles in one calendar year (for electronic), your customers or employees account will reject the additional miles and we cannot grant a refund.
Can I replace lost Reward Miles certificates?
Unfortunately, no. Certificates will not be replaced if lost, stolen or destroyed.
Can I sell any Reward Miles that I have not awarded?
No. Certificates and electronic miles will be void if sold or bartered, but may be awarded to company employees prior to expiration.
What is Mileage Plus?
Mileage Plus is the award-winning frequent flyer program from United Airlines - voted #1 by readers of Business Traveler International magazine for seven years in a row. As a Mileage Plus member, you earn miles towards travel awards whenever you fly United, United Shuttle®, United Express®, or United's other worldwide airline partners on most paid tickets. Plus, you may earn Mileage Plus bonus miles from participating travel partners and other specialty partners.
When will my customer's or employee's Mileage Plus account be credited?
About 3-5 business days after you have awarded the miles. Remember, with electronic Reward Miles you must have your customer's or employee's valid Mileage Plus number to issue miles. With Reward Miles Certificates, your customer must redeem them online at united.com/depositmiles.
How will my customers or employees know when their Mileage Plus account has been credited?
They can start checking with Mileage Plus about 5 business days after you have awarded them miles. Please instruct them to check their Mileage Plus account online at http://www.united.com or call 1-800-421-4655. Please note: Your company name WILL APPEAR on the statement next to the Reward Miles that you have issued. Members can also receive electronic mileage summaries by going into Mileage Plus Communications at united.com/updateprofile.
Is the personal order information I provide confidential?
Mileage Plus recognizes that it must maintain and use this customer information responsibly. We use customer information for Mileage Plus marketing and promotional purposes only. We do not sell member information to any outside company or third party.
Is my online purchase secure?
Protecting your order is a priority. Mileage Plus makes every effort to protect your online order information by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. SSL encrypts your order information to avoid the decoding of that information by anyone other than Mileage Plus and Crew Marketing. To check the security of your connection, look at the lower left-hand corner of your browser window after accessing the server. If you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending upon your browser), then SSL is active.
